Flagging

The taxiway to the future is clear

When it comes to ground traffic within an airport operations area, flagging is more complicated than simply turning a sign. To deliver their loads safely and efficiently, work convoys must travel roads built primarily for aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles, as well as airfield operations agents, security guards and FAA employees — all while avoiding aircraft on intersecting taxiways.

JDT’s flagging team serves as the eyes and ears for its escorts, monitoring airfield ground and tower communications, observing approaching aircraft and making sure convoys have the time they need to cross taxiways safely and efficiently.

When a construction project on an airfield must be completed, safety is always the first priority.

Factors that influence optimal movement can vary from wind direction, time of day, soil condition, visibility, items being transported, etc. Processes like escorting concrete trucks to their pour site can pose a unique challenge with crucial time limits that must be adhered to.

An Airfield is a highly specialized place where lights, signs, and markings display information that is of vital importance to the safety of the travelling public. We are the liaison between airport safety and project deadlines. Working in this type of environment entails using multiple safeguards and standards that must be met in order to perform work in an aircraft movement area.
